At MAY & HUGO, we are passionate about making a change to the fashion industry and doing things differently. We only use fabrics that are environmentally sensitive, manufactured using either recycled synthetic fibres or sustainably produced natural fibres such as bamboo.

FACTS: The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world, right after the oil industry.

Producing recycled nylon (often from abandoned fishing nets or old carpet) not only cleans up our oceans and landfill but also uses almost half the energy used to produce the fibre from virgin materials.

While cotton accounts for only 2.4% of the world’s crop land, it accounts for 24% and 11% of the global sales of insecticide and pesticides respectively. It can use up to 20,000L of water to produce 1kg of cotton, and about 20 million tons of cotton are produced annually.

The nylon we use for our swimwear is made from Econyl.
